The British Council is going to bring the Women of the World (WOW) Festival to Bangladesh in 2019. WOW is one of the leading international festivals around the world and takes place on five continents. So, we are inviting relevant individuals and organisations to join hands with us in programming the festival in the next few months.
The selected individual or organisation will get the opportunity to work with the British Council Bangladesh to design a festival that represents the relevant topics for Bangladeshi women and girls.
The selected applicants will be able to work with the local British Council team in designing and delivering the festival in 2019.
The selected candidate will have the opportunity to work with local and international artists and professionals, different development agencies, and participate in different networking activities.
About the Programme
Women of the World is the Southbank Centre's festival that celebrates women and girls, highlights their achievements and looks at the obstacles they still face across the world. The Southbank Centre have partnered with the British Council to bring WOW to South Asia.
With talks and debates, music and performance, a marketplace, networking and much more, the program brings people together to speak about how they are making the world a fairer place and why it matters. WOW is a place where hundreds of women’s stories can be shared, feelings vented, minds influenced, and fun had.
- Women of the World is a festival that is centred around women and girls, but it is designed in a way that attracts men and boys as well. So the individuals and organisations applying should have experience of working with women and girls’ issues in Bangladesh.
- The selected curators are expected to engage with the relevant stakeholders to address topics related to women and girls, so having an existing network is expected.
- The British Council is committed to ensuing diversity in terms of gender, and culture. Individuals and organisations with a track record of working with women & girls and/or development and social work are encouraged to apply.
