I was fascinated by Biology from the very first day, I was introduced to it. Consequently, on completion of my O’ level and A’ level Examinations, I decided to further explore my interest in this subject. I, therefore, started my undergraduate degree in ‘Biochemistry and Biotechnology’ in North South University.

My dedication, perseverance and passion towards the subject helped me to graduate with distinction. After completing my graduation, I started to work in a molecular diagnostic laboratory as a junior scientific officer which encouraged me to acquire more knowledge and develop skills related to laboratory works. While doing this job, I realised the importance of taking molecular diagnosis to the doorstep of people of all class and this convinced me even more to choose the Master's program ‘Molecular Genetics and Diagnostics’ at the University of Nottingham. The University of Nottingham is a public research university based in Nottingham, United Kingdom. The university is one of 12 'elite' institutions that accommodate the top achieving students in England. In 2012, Nottingham was ranked 13th in the world in terms of the number of alumni listed among CEOs of the Fortune Global 500.

To apply for the Master's program, I went to the British Council and registered for IELTS. I sat for IELTS and later applied for Commonwealth Shared Scholarship in 2014. I was a successful recipient of the prestigious award which was given to only nine international students of the University of Nottingham in that year. My tuition fees were waived and I received my travel and thesis grants along with monthly stipends. This allowed me to concentrate on my studies. I always dreamt of being an accomplished researcher and I believe Masters in Molecular Genetics and Diagnostics from the University of Nottingham was the perfect place for the instigation of my research career. I graduated in 2015 and to me, it is like a dream coming true because without the scholarship I would never be able to study in such a top notch university. I have certainly enjoyed and acclimatised with the foreign culture of the UK and its people. I want to use my knowledge and skills that I learnt from the UK and bring changes in the research field in Bangladesh on Genetics and Molecular Diagnostics.
