The British Council organised a four-day training session on Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) Essentials course from 25 to 28 August 2016 at Jhenaidah Cadet College. The course aimed to introduce more student-centred methodology, in the context of teaching subject content through English medium to 47 teachers from 12 Cadet Colleges across Bangladesh. The participants of this course will now complete assignments, and submit them online, for moderation.
The British Council has been working closely with the teachers in those colleges since 2014 to further improve the standard of teaching and learning. As part of this project, a substantial number of subject teachers have already completed the same course and English teachers have completed the British Council’s Certificate in Secondary English Language Teaching (CiSELT) course.
It has been observed during the training that a lot of thought has gone into the participants to make a difference in their teaching. They reported that this training has sharpened their understanding and skills of how to engage learners in learning the process by applying various techniques. However, the teachers also think that they need continuous follow-up training to develop and keep themselves updated with effective teaching-learning methods.
