The British Council is happy to host ‘Latest Science for All’- a monthly series of Science Talk with Professor Dr Muhammad Ibrahim. He is an eminent professor and physician from the University of Dhaka. The session is open to students of class 6-12 and to all adults.
The topic of this month is Reading the Genomes, and the next steps in the decoding of life. Finding the base sequence of the DNA of a species and thus knowing the constitution of its whole genome, was a challenging task at the turn of the century. But now it has become a routine work with the advancement of bio-informatics. The next step is to reveal all the genes and to utilize the knowledge – the best we can. The power it will give us to control our genetic makeup can lead us to wonderful achievements and a few worries.
This programme will be telecasted by the television channel Bangla Vision once a month. In every episode of science talk, there will be a quiz competition where a question based on the topic of that day's Science Talk will be asked to the viewers of the programme. The name of the winner will be announced in the following episode
