Once again the British Council Bangladesh joins hands with HSBC bank to launch a programme dedicated to promote education for young children in Dhaka. ‘Play, Learn, Act’ is a new project, developed by the British Council, and supported by grants from HSBC, that will bring forward many different aspects to the children, teachers, school administration staff and parents in Bangladesh through school events, community events and competitions.

The honourable Governor of Bangladesh Bank, Dr. Atiur Rahman was present as the Chief Guest of the inauguration ceremony. Barbara Wickham, Director Bangladesh, British Council said: “This additional grant will allow British Council to enhance English language literacy and communication skills in primary school students and we are pleased to support the positive impact that this programme will deliver.

The project’s objective is to enhance skills in reading, writing, listening and speaking of 22,500 students from 20 primary schools over a span of three years, by introducing books and digital resources which will develop their analytical and thinking skills and help them express their thoughts and ideas in a more articulate manner.

Activities of the project will also include 'Teaching Reading’ workshops, training for HSBC volunteers who will conduct interactive sessions and resource orientation with the students, dissemination of books, reading activities, assessment, intra-school art competitions and an award-giving gala event.
