The British Council invites you to a book reading event of Nijer Ekti Kaamra, the translation by Alam Khorshed of the famous title A Room of One’s Own by Virginia Woolf.
"A woman must have money and a room of her own if she is to write fiction" is the concept behind the title of the book. The essay states whether women are capable of producing works like literary legends as William Shakespeare. It addresses the limitations that women as writers have faced over the ages.
This famous writing was recently translated into Bangla by prominent Bangladeshi writer Alam Khorshed. He has been associated with literary studies and various cultural activities since his young days. As all contemporary authors of world-literature, his main interest lies in the various branches of art literature. In addition to editing, translating and creative writing, Khorshed has written almost twenty books.
Alam Khorshed will read excerpts from the translated book during the event. The reading will be followed by an open talk with the author himself.
