The British Council has organised School Campaign at International School Dhaka (ISD) on 16 March 2017. The British Council and IELTS jointly ran the programme. There was a seminar on studying and living in the UK. The seminars provided the opportunity to the students to know how to choose courses and institutions in the UK, what factors need to be considered while choosing an UK institution, how to get prepared and when to prepare for the admission, UCAS and visa application process. There was also an interactive briefing session on IELTS and its digital resources. Different tips and tricks were provided on getting a good score on four modules of IELTS test. The seminars were followed by a quiz competition on the topics that have been covered in the sessions. The students participated in the competition with great enthusiasm and scored very well. There were total 30 participants and out of them, there were one winner and two runners-up. The programme ended with the prize giving ceremony by the College Counsellor Nusrat Sharmin.

This programme initiated a good response amongst the students for higher education in the UK as they are studying in grade 11 and are now in the decision-making process of taking further education abroad. The students and the College Counsellor found the programme very useful as they came to know some recent changes in Tier-4 visa policy guidance. They also came to know the difference between IELTS and UKVI IELTS and which one is appropriate for them. The College Counsellor Nusrat Sharmin requested the British Council to host such events more often at their premises as 40% of their students apply for the UK every year for their higher studies.
