Meet our speakers

Bimali Indrarathne

Bimali Indrarathne is a professor at Kotelawala Defence University, Sri Lanka. She had worked at Lancaster University, King’s College London, and the University of York before moving to Sri Lanka. She has extensive experience in training teachers on topics like dyslexia in 14 countries. She has also published widely on these topics internationally. In addition, she teaches and researches topics such as second language acquisition, English for Academic Purposes, and language teaching methodology.

Emily Bryson

Emily Bryson is an experienced ELT professional and author of resources like National Geographic Learning’s Voices and Impact series, 50 Ways to Teach Life Skills, and Pathways to Success. She champions diversity, equity, and inclusion, using visual tools and graphic facilitation to make learning engaging and accessible. Her resource packs and teacher training courses help educators create creative, inclusive ELT classrooms that support learners of all backgrounds.

Shirly Hephzibah

Shirly Hephzibah J is an experienced English educator and academic coordinator at Velammal Global School, Chennai. She teaches Cambridge IGCSE and mentors student-led global initiatives. Passionate about value-based education, she designs lessons blending language with empathy, critical thinking, and real-world relevance. She leads global collaborations and supports teachers in building inclusive, reflective classrooms that empower learners to create meaningful change.

Teresa Bestwick

Teresa is a teacher and trainer based in southern Spain. She is the co-author of Teaching Teenagers, from DELTA Publishing, and regularly presents sessions sharing practical ideas for the classroom. She works online with a variety of learners and her passion lies in boosting their confidence. She often shares activities for which there are no wrong answers, preferring instead for learners to use as much language as possible. In her free time, she likes going for early-morning walks. 

Joe Dale

Joe Dale is an independent languages consultant from the UK who works with a range of organizations like The Association for Language Learning and The British Council. He is a regular conference speaker and recognized expert on technology and language learning. He has spoken at conferences and run training courses in Europe, North America, South America, the Middle East, the Far East & Australasia. He was described in a Guardian article as an 'MFL guru' and 'the man behind the #mfltwitterati’'.

Katherine Reilly

Katherine Reilly is an ELT educator, author, and trainer based in Athens, Greece. She specialises in inclusive teaching and has delivered sessions on Inclusive AI for the British Council and LTSIG IATEFL. Known for her learner-centred approach, she creates accessible materials for diverse learners. She has published widely in ELT and children’s literature, lectures at universities, serves as an oral examiner, and regularly contributes to ELT NEWS on equitable classroom practices.

Amena Ahmed

Amena Ahmed is Head of Academics at Taleemabad, leading curriculum strategy and large-scale reforms, including textbook redesign for the Federal Directorate of Education. With a background in IB education, she specialises in inquiry-based, student-centred learning. A strong advocate for inclusion, she designs personalised support for diverse learners and promotes equity in classrooms. Her work blends innovation, empathy, and systemic change to help all students thrive.

Deepak Majhi

Deepak Majhi is an Inclusive Education Officer at CEHRD, Nepal, with over 15 years of experience in disability inclusion and equitable education. He has led national initiatives and supported schools in adopting inclusive practices. A passionate trainer and advocate, he shares insights at national and international conferences, connecting policy with classroom realities to drive meaningful change for learners with disabilities.

Suyog Ashokrao Dixit

Suyog is a teacher educator and English language resource person at the Azim Premji Foundation, India. A Hornby Scholar with an MA in TESOL from the University of Warwick, he supports teacher development across Maharashtra and Rajasthan. His interests include translanguaging, teacher leadership, and inclusive pedagogy. As AINET’s social media lead, he advocates for equity in education and empowers teachers to build inclusive, reflective classrooms.

Lutfunnessa Khanom

With 21 years of experience teaching in secondary schools across Bangladesh, Lutfunnessa Khanom is a dedicated educator and trainer focused on skills-based learning. She has contributed to education projects and shared insights at international conferences. Trained in 21st-century skills, she integrates collaboration, critical thinking, and communication into her lessons, bridging classroom practice with teacher development to promote future-ready English education.

Deepti Chawla

Deepti Chawla is an English educator and mentor with the Directorate of Education, Delhi. She works on curriculum design and teacher training with the Delhi Board of School Education. A Fulbright alumna and 2023 British Council scholar, she is pursuing an MSc TESOL at the University of Stirling. With over a decade of experience, she collaborates with NCERT, SCERT, and Delhi University to integrate critical thinking, creativity, and global citizenship into English language teaching.

Dhak Bahadur Pun

Dhak Bahadur Pun is an experienced English teacher and educator from Nepal with nearly 20 years in secondary education. A long-time British Council trainer and Core Skills Educator, he has supported hundreds of teachers in integrating 21st-century skills like critical thinking, collaboration, and communication. Known for his practical, student-focused approach, he continues to teach English while modelling how core skills can enhance learning and engagement in everyday classrooms.

Nahid Ferdous Bhuiyan

Mr. Nahid is a TESOL educator and trainer from Bangladesh with 22+ years of experience. Based at NAEM, he has trained over 20,000 teachers and developed national INSET curricula. A UNESCO IRCAI and ASEFClassNet fellow, he mentors educators on AI-integrated instruction and has introduced AI modules in national training. With research published in MEXTESOL and Routledge, his work bridges AI, TESOL, and inclusive learning to advance English education.

Luna Jyoti Saikia

Luna Jyoti Saikia is a primary English teacher from Assam, India, passionate about digital innovation in education. She integrates technology to create inclusive, engaging learning and leads teacher training initiatives. A British Council scholar, she earned her MSc in TESOL and CALL from the University of Stirling. As part of the State Board team, she co-authored ICT textbooks for middle school, focusing on the transformative role of digital tools in teacher development.

Nuha Mohideen

Nuha is a teacher and education consultant based in Colombo, Sri Lanka. She lectures at Edith Cowan University and consults for the British Council on English and school programmes. Passionate about learner-centred teaching and digital integration, she supports educators in using AI tools. Her work includes CEFR-aligned assessments, interactive textbook tasks, low-tech digital activities, and training teachers to craft prompts and use AI tools like Canva for engaging, localised lessons.
