Threads of Tales: The Nakshi Kantha Book Project
- UK: Bok Bok Books Ltd
- Bangladesh: HerStory Foundation and Publications
Storytelling for Children Through Traditional Nakshi Kantha Embroidery.
Bok Bok Books and HerStory Publications will collaborate on a new project that blends the traditional art of nakshi kantha embroidery with storytelling from Bengali mythology and folklore. HerStory will research the storytelling aspects of nakshi kantha, producing a reference book of 200 hand-embroidered editions that document key motifs and their significance in Bengali folklore. This will guide Bok Bok Books in creating a children’s book based on these findings. Workshops in the UK and Bangladesh will explore the narrative and artistic potential of nakshi kantha, with digital archives preserving the project's cultural impact.
