The British Council will organise quizzes and games along with different workshops to celebrate the Harry Potter Festival. To participate in any activities, interested participants must register online. After the successful registration, participants will get a confirmation e-mail.

Through these activities, participants can develop their

Quizzes and Games

Kahoot Quiz

Kahoot! is a tool for using technology to administer quizzes, discussions or surveys. It is a game based classroom response system played by the whole class in real time. Multiple-choice questions on Harry Potter will be projected on the screen. Students will answer the questions with their smartphone, tablet or computer. To participate in the quiz the interested participants need to register first. Registered participants must bring their own smartphones or tablets with them. 

Word Search

There will be puzzle word-grid on Harry Potter character and spells. Words can read up, down, across, backwards and diagonally. Four houses will play (five in each), the team with most appropriate words and prompt, will win the game. 

Spellbinding spot the difference

There will be five differences in two pictures. The four houses will identify the changes. Four houses will play (five in each), the team who will identify most prompt, will win the game.

Killing Voldemort

Harry used his signature duelling spell: Expelliarmus to kill Voldemort. We will print the puzzle on a whiteboard. Participants will take a different coloured erasable marker and draw on the right line to reach the spell to Voldemort. They can erase three times if they draw wrong. If they are wrong for the fourth time, they will be disqualified. 

Wizards Classroom

Jewel Aich, a prominent magician will run a workshop on magic tricks and tactics with 20 primary school kids. At the end of the session, we will have 20 tiny wizards.

Wizardry is one of the oldest performing arts in the world in which audiences are entertained by staged tricks or illusions of seemingly impossible or supernatural feats using natural means. These feats are called magic tricks, effects, or illusions. It has the capacity for creating a fully emotional hook and also motivation for leaning since it generally piques kid’s natural curiosity.

Self-working wizardry trick also indicates that if the performed flows a perfectly defined set of instructions, then the trick must work all by itself. It actually needs no sleight of hand or also some other hidden objects or moves. It is therefore quite helpful in encouraging learners for going beyond just the answer and also explores some logic to prove the outcome. All the participants will get a certificate of participation through a ceremony.

 

 

Diagon Alley: Exhibition of your Harry Potter Props

Diagon Alley is a cobblestoned wizarding alley and shopping, all items on the Hogwarts supply list can be bought at Diagon Alley. The participants will create Harry Potter props and exhibit. Like; participants can make their own wand and show why their wand is different and what qualities the wand holds. They can create posters, costumes, maps, time-turners and other Harry Potter props. All the participants will get a certificate of participation through a ceremony.

Treasure Hunt

There will be four houses and the competition will be among the houses. The facilitator will give a scene from one of the books as a clue and there will be other clues to find out the location of the book. As a team, they need to find out the books from Library shelves. This way the teams will be more familiar with the library shelving system. This game can be played with teachers as well. There will be 5 children with 1 teacher. One participant from each house will get the nomination from the team to complete each task.

Each group will find out an HP book from the library through solving a clue provided to them within the shortest possible time. Best three teams will be awarded prizes and all the participants will be awarded certificates.

Magic Portion Classroom

Amortentia (potion of love), Draught of living death (potion of deep sleep), Felix felicis (potion of good luck), Polyjuice potion (potion of disguise) and much more Harry Potter magic potion will be taught hands-on in this magic potion classroom. All the participants will get a certificate of participation through a ceremony.
