The British Council’s ‘Kids Read’ project aims to introduce books and digital resources to school students through different events, workshops, and competitions. The project is supported by the grants from Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC).
We are facilitating a month-long storytelling workshop for the primary school students in Dhaka at their school premises. The workshops provide the participating schools with British story books and relevant props in order to develop an understanding, respect, and appreciation for other cultures promoting a positive attitude to people from different lands, races, and religions. At the end of each workshop, the participants drew pictures which reflected their imagination on the art paper. This activity is named ‘Boshe Ako’.
Mosammat Sufia Khatun, Principal, Viqarunnisa Noon School and College appreciated this approach of the British Council by saying, "Storytelling is a great activity of learning".
Through this workshop, around 1,800 primary school students from 18 different schools have received the opportunity to develop their analytical and thinking skills helping them express their thoughts and ideas in a more articulated manner.
