The British Council and Daffodil Education Network (DEN) are jointly launching a Book Reading Competition aimed at celebrating World Book Day 2017 in Bangladesh. World Book Day is a celebration! It’s a celebration of authors, illustrators and books. In fact, it’s the biggest celebration of its kind, designated by UNESCO as a worldwide celebration of books and reading, and marked in over 100 countries all over the world. This is the 20th year that World Book Day is being celebrated all over the world and 5th consecutive year of this competition designed to encourage children and adults to explore the pleasures of book reading by providing them with the opportunity to have a book of their own. Since 2013, the British Council celebrates World Book Day through a nation-wide book reading campaign for children, young adults and adults in four different groups (Group A, B, C and D). The participants read a book given to them by the British Council and then attend an assessment test at the end. Last year, the top six winners won laptops and other 60 winners won many other prizes from four different categories.
