The overall purpose of this post is to support income generation through the identification and pursuit of opportunities for contracts, partnerships, grants and paid services from development partners, foundations, trusts and the corporate sector to generate greater impact and income across the British Council’s core Strategic Business Units (SBUs).

Role overview

The Post holder will be expected to :

  • support  SBUs achieve their partnership income targets and ensure that a consistent approach to proposal management across SBUs is maintained, including identifying potential funders, brokering internal and external relationships, supporting proposal development, contract approval and general modelling of best practice in pursuit processes
  • gather and analyse market intelligence on client strategies, stakeholders and beneficiaries, potential partners and competitors on individual opportunities on needs basis
  • lead on negotiation and contracting with consultants, delivery partners and development partners ensuring compliance with legal, tax, financial control, and internal policies as appropriate
  • Build relationships with both existing and new partners to ensure strong consortiums are created.
  • Support Strategic Business Unit (SBU) teams to pursue partnership and grant opportunities by providing advice and guidance on good practice in pursuit management, for example providing intelligence, quality reviews, and proposal management guidelines.
