GETTING HERE     

Our Dhaka University campus office is located in Dhaka University area. 

  • Kamlapur train station is 4.2 km away
  • Sayedabad bus stop is 7.1 km away.

DROP OFF      

The nearest motorbike, taxi, car, rickshaw drop-off point is in Fuller Road outside of the main entrance of the British Council. 

There is also a drop-off point outside the main entrance that can be used by visitors with disabilities. Please contact us before your visit so that we can arrange this.

You can order an accessible auto rickshaw/ Uber from outside of main entrance

PARKING      

The Dhaka main office does not have any dedicated car park.

  • vehicles can be parked at Fuller Road in front of the office
  • there are public accessible parking spaces all along on Fuller Road.

WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN YOU ARRIVE

MAIN ENTRANCE   

Step-free access to the office is provided via the main entrance on Fuller Road. The main door is accessible to wheelchair and pushchair users.

INSIDE THE BUILDING

SECURITY CHECK      

Before you enter the building you will need to go through a security check. This involves you and your bag is checked.

You may hear several loud bleeps during the check.

If you have any concerns about the security check, please contact us before your visit.

RECEPTION    

There are several customer service desks 5 meters inside on the right-hand side of the main entrance. Our staff will be happy to help if you require any assistance.

If you use a wheelchair, we will speak with you about a suitable emergency evacuation plan.

BUILDING OVERVIEW     

Overall premises have been divided into 4 buildings where customers will get access in front of the house only. There is a café on the ground floor of the building which is accessible to the visitors. 

There are classrooms, library space, the auditorium and customer service area on the ground floor accessible to visitors using wheelchairs.

The grounds, first and second floors of the back office feature some wide level corridors accessible to visitors using wheelchairs. Other sections of the building have steps up and down, for which there are no ramps. The third floor in the back office is only accessible by stairs.

CLASSROOMS

  • there are accessible classrooms on the ground floors
  • these classrooms are equipped with computers and tablets with screen magnifiers and screen reader software.

MEETING ROOMS

  • there are accessible meeting rooms on the ground floors.

STAIRS  

Unfortunately, there is no lift in the Dhaka main office. Please contact us before your visit if this will pose a problem so that we can make alternative arrangements.

ACCESSIBLE TOILET    

There is an accessible toilet on the ground floor close to café area.

There is another toilet close to reception area suitable for people using wheelchairs.
