The IELTS Teacher Traning Workshop is a two-day long programme which allows teachers to know the product and the content of the test and the benefits for their students in taking IELTS. The workshop can help ensure that external organisations are delivering appropriate IELTS preparation courses that will help test takers get a score that truly reflects their language ability, and so increase customer satisfaction among IELTS test takers.

Learning outcomes

By the end of the workshop participants will be able to:

For Writing

• explain the format of the Writing component to their students

• help students understand the differences between the two tasks

• help students use appropriate techniques and strategies for each of the two tasks

• help students to improve their own writing.

For Listening

• explain the format of the Listening test to their students

• describe the different question and task types

• explain and practise tactics and techniques for dealing with the tasks and typical problems

• adapt teaching methods and materials to give students further IELTS listening practice.

For Reading

• explain the format of the Reading test to their students

• describe the different question and task types

• help students develop appropriate reading skills and strategies

• use a number of practical classroom activities to help their students’ reading comprehension.

For Speaking

• explain the format of the Speaking test to their students

• describe the different techniques and strategies for each section of the test

• use a number of classroom activities to help students develop their confidence, and improve their spoken accuracy and fluency

• adapt teaching methods and materials to give students further IELTS speaking practice.

Duration

The four skills will be covered over two days:

Day one

AM IELTS Writing workshop - 4 hours

PM IELTS Listening workshop - 3 hours

Day two

AM IELTS Reading workshop - 4 hours

PM IELTS Speaking workshop - 3 hours

Fee

The fee for each workshop (two days) is BDT 5000.

Please note, participants are required to attend all four sessions to receive the British Council participation certificate.
