Have you heard of the tree shrew? Do you know how fast sound travels underwater? Well now you can find out with our Famelab finalists’ favourite science facts!

FameLab is the world’s leading science communication competition. Participants have just three minutes to win over the judges and crowd with a scientific talk that excels for its content, clarity and charisma.

Cheltenham Festivals produced the first FameLab in 2005. A partnership with the British Council since 2007 has seen the competition go international, with more than 10,000 young scientists and engineers participating to date.

Selected participants join an exclusive two-day intensive masterclass led by expert UK trainers.

FameLab Alumni have given TEDx talks, written books, presented television programmes, started science communication companies and become successful researchers able to communicate effectively.

We’ve got plenty of science books and resources  at the British Council Library to get you started.
