From climate risk and public health to environmental resilience, his work turns evidence into action. Through capacity-building and advanced statistical, machine learning, and deep learning models, he tackles real-world challenges with a deep commitment to sustainability, science, and positive social impact.

Dr. Shomik Maruf

London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM)

A public health innovator tackling neglected tropical diseases, Shomik strengthens national systems through digital surveillance and evidence-led solutions. A Chevening Scholar and UK alumnus, he shapes policy through national advisory roles while advancing cost-effective approaches to diseases such as kala-azar and filariasis. His work empowers frontline health workers and improves care for underserved communities.

Syed Farid Uddin Farhad

University of Bristol

A materials and device physicist, Farhad is Principal Scientist at the Industrial Physics Division of BCSIR. Ranked among the world’s Top 2% Scientists (Stanford & Elsevier), his work advances eco-friendly solar cells and sunlight-driven H₂ production. Securing grants from RSC, TWAS, and GARE, he holds multiple patents promoting industry–academia collaboration to strengthen local industries, empower youth, and support a sustainable national economy.

Munzereen Shahid

University of Oxford

One of Bangladesh’s most influential English educators, reaching over 10 million learners daily through free digital content and supporting 200,000+ students via premium programmes. She describes her UK education as life-changing; her time at Oxford strengthened her research skills and understanding of second-language acquisition. She now works to expand quality English and early-childhood education across Bangladesh and beyond.

Sumaya Afrin Misti

Nottingham Trent University

A Chevening scholar and child psychologist, Sumaya strengthens school-based mental-health systems in Bangladesh. With a master’s in Applied Child Psychology from Nottingham, she leads counselling and safeguarding initiatives, develops IB mental-health curricula, and trains early-career psychologists. As co-founder of BloomAid, she expands access to evidence-based counselling and youth advocacy, while mentoring students toward UK postgraduate study.

Shameem Ara Sheuli

Swansea University

Working at the intersection of journalism and social impact, Shameem supports over 60,000 reporters through the Earth Journalism Network, strengthening environmental reporting. Formerly leading Internews Bangladesh, she advanced press freedom, digital safety, peace journalism, and counter-disinformation. A joint Master’s graduate of Swansea (UK) and Aarhus (Denmark), she champions freedom of expression and human rights globally.

Fasbeer Eskander

University College London, Royal Holloway University of London

Fasbeer Eskander founded The Front Page, Bangladesh’s leading bite-sized media platform. TFP curates important news into bite-sized pieces, making the information easier to consume. TFP introduced a new industry, creating opportunities for organisations to give ads and share PR creatively. Currently, the industry earns more than 10Cr BDT in revenue through ads and content creation.
