Sometimes an employer or a university may request verification of your results certificate before offering a job or place. The British Council can verify your IGCSE, International GCSE, O Level and A- and AS-level certificates if required. We aim to verify results in the shortest possible time frame, though this varies depending on your request and location.

What do I do if I've lost my certificate?

If you are a school candidate, your certificates will be sent directly to your school. Private candidates will receive their certificates at their home address via courier.

Please note that if you miss collecting your certificate from the courier, you must collect it promptly from the British Council. Certificates are archived after 24 months from the date of issuance. Once archived, they may no longer be retrievable from the British Council, and you will need to apply directly to the relevant exam board for a replacement.

In cases where a certificate is lost, damaged, or not collected, candidates may apply for a replacement through the official website of the respective exam board:

  1. Pearson Edexcel replacement certificate service
  2. Cambridge International replacement certificate service

We strongly recommend that you store your certificate securely, as it is an important official document that may be required for future academic, employment, or immigration purposes.

A Certifying Statement of Results is, to all intents and purposes, a certificate. It is printed on the same certificate paper as an original certificate (which includes the hologram that proves the document’s authenticity) and, just like with your original certificate, all of your subjects and grades you achieved for a particular qualification are listed on it.
